After a comprehensive review of the scientific literature available, Lucentis and Macugen have been endorsed by the American Academy of Ophthalmology as safe and effective treatments for macular degeneration for up to 2 years.  In the endorsement it was indicated that there is evidence to support that Macugen and Lucentis as effective treatments.  However, there was no endorsement given for Avastin as a treatment for macular degeneration at this time.
